Support for Charities

I assisted with:

Folding@Home
I help by simply running Folding@Home, a software which sits in the background, more known as a distributed computing project where people from throughout the world band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Folding@Home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate protein folding.

What is protein folding and how is folding linked to disease? Proteins are biology’s workhorses — its “nanomachines.” Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or “fold.” Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. “misfold”), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes.

Guide Dogs Victoria
I helped raise a gorgeous puppy named Joseph for a couple of weeks. However, my overwhelming schedule forced me to rethink this decision and pass him onto another kind  puppy raiser in hope he’ll have a better home and more opportunity for a huge career that lies ahead of him.

I managed the fundraising for:

Blackwood
During late August, I collected generous donations were collected nationwide to help fund new camping equipment for Blackwood. Each year students go to camp where they re-learn to play, help each other, and learn trust and teamwork.

Verogive collected a total of $1,660, providing Camp Blackwood with new tents and packs. Not only did the money assist the funding of their camp, it also showed the kids the how compassionate people are and how they can give back to the community when they are older.
